Thought for the Month (January 2019)

So another New Year begins. A time when we both look back and look forward. A time which may fill us with hope and expectation, or a time when we are filled with apprehension not quite knowing what the future holds for us. For many of us it will bring a whole range of feelings. There will be many things from 2018 that we want to give thanks for. There will be things that we want to learn from. As we look forward there will be things that bring us hope and joy, but also things that we want to bring before God in prayer to give us the courage to face.

As we start 2019 remember we are still Walking the Way. Still trying to be Jesus' disciples today. Not doing things in our own strength but truly listening to God and following closely in the path that He calls us to. This is a time of excitement, mingled perhaps with some apprehension. We do not journey alone, we journey together. However we may be feeling, remember -
God says: I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out - plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I'll listen. When you come looking for me, you'll find me.
Jeremiah 29: 11-14 (The Message)

Prayer from Walking the Way

"God of all people, help us to remember that we are your servants in the world. For if our hands don't tend to those in need, how can your will be done?
If our feet don't walk your path, how can your Kingdom come?"
